Warranty

Long Ride Shields covers all products against manufacturing defects. If a windshield is found to have a defect, the purchaser is required to attain a Return Authorization Number from Long Ride Shields Customer Support. Please e-mail, or call us for an RMA nnumber. All shipping costs on defective products are the responsibility of Long Ride Shields. This warranty is valid within 30 days of the original product ship date.

Returns and Exchanges

All Long Ride Shields products are packaged with a clear film that adheres and conforms to the windshield surface. This protects from damage and ensures the purchaser receives a quality product. Upon receiving a windshield, inspect it for satisfactory performance and quality. If the film has not been removed and the rider is unhappy with the windshield for any reason, return it for a full exchange or refund, minus any shipping and handling charges.

In the event that the windshield is sent back with any damage or if the clear film has been removed, a restocking fee of 40% of the purchased price will be applied to the return or exchange. All shipping costs for returns and/or exchanges are the responsibility of the original purchaser of the product. All returns must be made within 30 days of the original product ship date.

Shipping

All our products ship within 24 hours of the time the order is processed. Our standard shipping methods are USPS priority (2-3 day), and USPS parcel (2-9 day on large shields). Please inquire for a quote on international shipping or expedited services. This shipping policy is not valid for any/all custom windshields.

FAQ:

How do you measure your windshields?

Our windshields are measured from the center screw in the fairing to the top of the windshield. For example, an 8" windshield looks slightly shorter when inserted in the fairing because of its hidden base.

Will your windshields work with fairing pouches?

All LRS windshields for FLH series work with fairing pouches, except the 7" and 8" Stealth shields.

When will my windshield get here?

Our windshields are shipped via USPS priority(2-3 days). We ship out within 24 hours. Delivery will take extra time if you are located internationally.

Quality Built In

Aerodynamics:

Long Ride Shields Windshields are formed using a special heat forming method to preserve the optical clarity of the material. As a part of the forming a Flip-up or Curve is formed at the top of the windshield which serves to deflect wind over the riders head. Our design has been tested and proven to maximize the amount of wind deflection while allowing for the least amount of drag.

Formed vs. Flat:

An inexpensive FLAT windshield that is physically forced into the curvature of a “Batwing Style” motorcycle fairing is susceptible to easy breakage when hit by a small object at high speed.  This is due to the high flexural stress caused on the outer surface of the plastic sheet when it is cold formed, or bent.  Our impact modified acrylic windshields are heated, formed into their curved shape, and allowed to slowly cool.  This process anneals the plastic and essentially eliminates the outer surface stress.

Impact Modified Acrylic vs. Lexan and Polycarbonate:

Formed Polycarbonate windshields may initially be stronger than other plastics but there is a dirty little secret – POLYCARBONATE WEAKENS WHEN EXPOSED TO SUNLIGHT!  After a few months in the sun, the polycarbonate degrades and its impact strength is reduced.  Even if the Polycarbonate has an UV resistant coating applied when it is in the sheet form, the edges of the material are exposed then the windshield is cut, and stress risers occur along the edge ultimately leading to full fracture.  Acrylic sheet is not susceptible to UV degradation, and over the lifetime  of the windshield provides better protection.
