2025 Veterans Day

Earlier last month, we started our run-up for Veterans Day.  We asked veterans to share their stories, their experiences, their photos.  We were blown away with how many people responded to our request.  We also hope that you've had the opportunity to use your veterans day codes each of you received.  Some stories were very unique, and some shared common themes...  We wanted to highlight some and recognize and thank all who replied, shared, and reminisced.

Some such stories include those of the like of B. Murphy.    He was   an operator of the famed Patriot Missiles and made the  first ever ground to air intercept of SCUD missiles.  He served in the Army  and was awarded a Bronze Star for courage under fire.

Another great story was one of D. Livingston.  He was in the Air Force and deployed in the Middle East.  One a rotation back to the States, he was woken up on the airplane in time to see smoke coming up from where the world trade centers were and catching a glimpse of the  Statue of liberty.  When he landed, his crew were treated to a hero's welcome as they  de boarded the plane.

M. Valeri shared a story where he worked as an Ordnance Officer in the Army and while on field training, one soldier was walking back to his group holding what looked like a walking stick.  Turns out it was a rattle snake he caught while away from his group.  His group killed it and wanted to cook   it when they realized it was pregnant and soon had baby snakes running around the TOC.  They then had to find all the baby snakes and get rid of them.

S. Rodriguez told us about his experience in Afghanistan.  One story he mentioned was in transit between the crucible and a live shooting drill, they just so happened to pass by the chow hall.  The drill instructor commented on the "sweet smell" in the air to which he corrected him instinctively making everyone laugh.  .

Many who commented said they loved the camaraderie and friends they got along the way.  Many expressed how it shaped their lives; their experiences made them who they are today.  Our nation owes each and everyone of our armed forces a great deal of gratitude and thanks for every sweat, blood, and sometimes tears they had to shed to keep our freedoms and country safe.  We had so many stories we cannot share all, but thank you to:
